Flash's Whereabouts

Betsy had an amazing time with our class mascot Flash over the holidays. She enjoyed having him so much that she made a short video to show some of the things they got up to. What an awesome video Betsy!

Learning New Skills And Getting Ready For Arts Week

Image
We are so excited to be working on our cultural cushions to display during week 9. We have done a lot of research into cultural patterns and good luck symbols from around the world. We also worked on our sketching skills designing what our cushions will look like when we are finished. We are learning how to sew to be able to make our cushions. The basic stitches that we have learnt are; back stitch, cross stitch, running stitch, blanket stitch and whip stitch. We will definitely be able to help with sewing buttons onto shirts after this! Check out some of the cushions we are working on.

Breaking Records

Room 6 is working through another glorious school kit. This one is designed to test our measurement skills, creativity and data displaying skills. This kit is all about creating and breaking world records! We have been very excited exploring different world records on guinnessworldrecords.com and discussing the different types of measurements used. We created a record 'The fastest average score when clicking on a mouse pad with your left hand on humanbenchmark.com while standing on your right foot in milliseconds' and challenged each other to beat it. It was a lot of fun to try to improve our own scores, work out the averages and compare results. Next, we are going to be coming up with more original world records and testing them as a class. We can't wait!

Maths Talks

We have been discussing all of the different ways we can solve 32-19. It was great to see so many strategies and then decide which ones would be the most efficient and then which ones we preferred to use. Check out our working below and please comment which strategy you would use :)
